Camping around Mystic Seaport
We will be heading for New England in about 10 days. We wish to visit Mystic Seaport. Does anyone have a recommendation for a nice place to stay for about a week in that area? Suggestions will be appreciated.
We full time in a 29 foot TT. One of our concerns is our rig is 12' 6" tall, and we worry about low bridging.

Last year in March we stayed at the KOA near Mistic. They had just opened for the year and there were several coaches an TT. Very easy to visit the local sites, Mistic, sub base. This time of year they may be very busy. Enjoy your trip.

We second the KOA. We have been there twice, and will probably go back next year if we hit the East Coast. Convenient to all of the areas attractions, and Mystic Pizza. We have only had a problem one time when the site they assigned us had a tree in the middle of it. It would have worked for a pop-up or small camper, but not for a 40 foot motorhome. They were eager to move us to something more suitable. We will definitely return.

The Mystic KOA is actually in North Stonington, CT but it is a very easy ride into Mystic via I95. Mystic KOA | Camping in Connecticut | KOA Campgrounds

Try "Seaport campground" in Old Mystic. I stayed there in 2008.

We did not address your height concerns. Getting to either the KOA or Seaport from the highways should be no problem with your height.
Just a note - since you are staying a week - Seaport does not have full hookups.

While it's true that there are an overabundance of low bridges in New England, I don't think you'll have any problem getting to either Mystic Seaport or the KOA in North Stonington as long as you don't stray too far off of the interstates.
If you are looking to travel some of the scenic secondary roads with your TT let me know where you'll be coming from and I can give you a routing that will get you there without encountering any low underpasses.

We have stayed at the Mystic KOA and ACES High campgrounds. Both very neat and clean. The casinos have RV Parking lots. We have stayed at Mohegan Sun Casino with a great view of the river for an over night visit.
