camping in northern Vermont (Ben & Jerry's)

I’ll be traveling to Vermont this weekend to drop my wife off at college. Does anybody know of any nice campgrounds near Ben and Jerrys that we could stay at. (Burlington, Barre…that area) I was thinking of arriving Saturday afternoon, taking the Ben and Jerrys tour and spending the night somewhere in the area. Are the campgrounds in that area crowded enough so that I should make reservations?

A great campground in Pownal, just outside Burlington. Cannot remember the name but should be in the trailer life. Wonderful people and small lake.

Little River Campground is in Waterbury VT. It's a state park right on the water. Not sure if you need reservations or not.

Vermont State Parks - Little River State Park

Pownal is actually almost 3 hours from Burlington while Ben & Jerry's is in Waterbury and about 35 minutes from Burlington, VT. If you need any further help or directions let me know. I am in Burlington, VT.

There are a couple other campgrounds closer to Burlington but would probably need a reservation. Mallets Bay Campground and Lone Pine Campground. Both in Colchester, VT which is about 10 minutes from Burlington on Lake Champlain.

We stayed at Gold Brook just down the road from B&J near Stowe. It was a nice place, nice scenery of the mountains in the background. Not big in the way of amenities but great for us in a nice setting.

Just a point that you may already know - all VT State Parks have no hookups. Most have dump stations and are beautiful.
This spot has gotten some good ratings and is fairly close to Ben & Jerry's. Vermont campgrounds, camping in Vermont, Vermont RV Parks

Campground in Vt.

Try Lazy Lions Campground in S. Barre. small, quaint, nice people run it and it handles my 36 ft 5th wheel...access to interstate is easy.

My apologies and thanks for correction; I was remembering Bennington, VT. and the nice campground near there.

We stayed at Gold Brook two years ago. The best kept grass of any campground. It's a few miles north of B&J's. Look in my photo gallery under Stowe VT. Smuggler Notch State Park only has a few sites for medium sized RV's at best

well we just returned. I thought the best place to stay for us would be in burlington based on location, so I chose North Beach campground that right in the city. I don't think I'd ever stay there again. The beach and the beach view was stunning, but it was a nightmare getting from the highway to the campground. also the campsites were extremely close together. there was about 10 feet between the camper next to me and my camper. my neighbors campfire was 6 feet from the side of my MH. also I had to make two night reservation get get a saturday night stay.
