Camping in Southern Oregon

Hi all,

We are going to Oregon for the first time next year and staying in three separate parks on the coast. The farthest we will go is Florence and then going to head toward I-5 and then back down to Calif. Any ideas on parks on I-5 as we head back? Also things to see or do on that route.
Thanks in advance

Seven Feathers Casino and Resort RV park in Canyonville. Never stayed there myself but it is universally recommended. I have stayed at Valley of the Rogue State Park in between Rogue River and Gold Hill. These are both along I-5 on your way south.

Lake Shasta is a nice area. Have to admit that when I'm on i5, I'm usually moving along and not really exploring.

Seven Feathers and the Shasta Lake area are both good suggestions.

Been to Seven Feathers several times, but the sites are a little short for our rig and towed. We have had to park away from the site as you can't overhang the sidewalk.

The Rouge River state park is a very nice option. We stayed their as well as 6 other state parks in OR this summer and all were really nice. Some of the best parks in the west. All had p/w hookups and some had sewer at the site. The other options mentioned above are good ones.

Instead of taking the boring I-5 on your return, how about 138 from Roseburg east to Crater Lake Nat'l Park and staying at Collier Memorial State Park? Then south on 97 to Klamath Falls and pick up 39/139 south to Lava Beds Nat'l Monument to 299 toward Burney, CA and explore Lassen Nat'l Park. Then work your way to I-5.

x2 on Crater Lake National Park (we camped there in 1969) and Lassen National Park (we camped there in 1968). I would recommend going down U.S. 395 from Reno. Much more scenic than I-5.
