Got a KOA across the river Clarksville Ind
Also have a KOA At Shepherdsville KY
This is the one I would stay at. Out of town yet close to it. Anything you would want or need. Great go cart track

We stay at Grandma's RV Park in Shepherdsville. Nothing fancy but the price is right and the hook ups are good. They have rules concerning pets and disconnecting when freezing weather is predicted. It is easy on/off the interstate too.

There is a lot of bridge and ramp construction in downtown Louisville. The location of your son's lacrosse tournament compared to downtown might influence which campground you choose. Also, see Downtown Crossing | Ohio Bridges

From which direction are you traveling? Charlestown state park in Indiana is about 20 miles from Louisville. Also depends what part of Louisville.

Stay away from the KOA across the river to the north.... spots are too small to even breath and always crowded. The southern KOA is nice.

The fields are by the river. I do not know how the traffic is but we will be getting there on a Friday and the tournament is Saturday and Sunday. Camping in a pop up.

We liked Charlestown ok when we were there a couple of years ago. But it's very peaceful and away from any activity. It would take about 30 minutes to get to the river. You might, however, be better off at one of the closer KOA camps for proximity of amenities.

I would think shepherd vile is going to be your best bet. Your more then likely going to have your thing on river Rd Zorn Ave exit off I 71You want to avoid crossing the river into or out of Indiana with all the construction going on.
I'll be glad to ck out any place in the area. Im at Brandenburg Ky myself 40 miles SW of Louisville

Thanks for the input and the offer to check out a campground. I think we are going to do the south KOA. It is no state park but it is a place to park for the night.
