Camping near Morro Bay
Looking for reccomendations for reasonably priced places to camp in the Morro Bay area. We have a 37' pusher and jeep toad. Also plan on doing some kayaking while ther. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

MOrro Dunes----just off the beach---easy walk down the beach to town---shuttle to town----great sea food place to buy fresh shrimp, scallops---as for kayaking---not sure where but you must know.

Just noticed the website shows kayaker off of Morro Rock----easy deal---just launch through the surf right in front of the park I guess. If not then a launch is close by. Sounds like fun to me. They have cul d sac lots---back in right next to the fence---through the fenced and across the road and you are on the beach---hear the waves at night.

We have put our 36' (really measures 37') in at Morro Bay State Park. Can't remember the name of the museum that is within walking distance, plus a marina and golf course.

Try Avila Beach, it is south of Morro Bay. Not as crowded and it will be sunny. They have a small camping area with about a dozen full hook up sites another dozen no hook ups and a overflow area with an awesome view. A little pricey at $60 a night for hook ups and $40 for dry camping but for a night or two it is worth it for the view. You can launch your kayak from the beach and visit the commercial fishing pier for fresh fish. Lots of nice places to eat too. Have fun where ever you pick.....

www.portsanluis.com. (Avila Beach)
How could I forget one of our most favorite spots. It has been less than two years. FHU's then were $40 and dry camping sites were $25. Wow a 50% and 60% increase. :-(
More pics and a review in the campground section.

If you golf, right next to state rv park in morro bay is a good golf course and reasonable if over 60 and walk. Less than $40. We use state campground every year. Lots of birds and great photo ops. Montana del oro is another great hiking bird watching photography venue. 15 minute drive from morro bay

That would be Nobi Point at Thanksgiving '08.
This one was the jetty, closed now to camping. If the person up front wanted out, everybody moved.
