Camping near Piscataway, N.J.???

Finalizing details of our summer trip and can't seem to find any camping areas within 20 miles or so of Piscataway, N.J.
My other half has relatives there to visit and I need to find someplace to camp for several days.
Any ideas/help appreciated...

Spruce Run Recreation Area is about 30 miles away. Nice campsites but no hookups.

I have a farm 35 miles away (exit 11 off I-78) where you can camp. Water, electric and dump. Plenty of room on 30 acres. It's the peaceful part of NJ!

WalMart on Centennial Ave in Piscataway where you can park overnight.

Personally I would stay at Tom's place. You could hop on 78 and be at your destination easily.

Remember no pets at Spruce Run in the campground.

Thanks for the replies...
Spruce Run won't work since there is 6 of us and the tanks fill mighty fast.
I will be there 3 or 4 days, so Walmart is out of the question as well.
Tom's place sounds great,(Thanks for the offer) but a long drive back and forth, however, I do like the idea of camping on a farm.
I'm sure it's me, but I had a hard time figuring out that website since I don't know the surrounding areas and I also found another that searches by a states region, but I don't know what region Piscataway is in.
Thanks for the help.
I didn't think it would be this hard to find someplace. Maybe I will get lucky and not have to visit her relatives after all!!!

Piscataway is in the east/central part of NJ and is home to the Rutgers University football stadium. So unless it is a Saturday in the fall, not much goes on. It is also 'housing development central' with a lot of townhouse and house developments going in during the 1980's. Hence, not very RV friendly. The Raritan River forms one border and I-287 cuts right through the middle. It is in Middlesex County.

So your options are limited.
- some campgrounds to the south (Freehold, NJ) like Pine Cone
- campgrounds to the north (Liberty) right outside of NYC
- Mahlon Dickerson Reservation (Morris County) to the northwest
- Tom's farm (my place) to the west
- not going at all!

Can you park the RV somewhere and stay at the relatives house for the 4 nights?

This is a view of my place:

You have some beautiful property there, Tom. Wish I could take you up on the offer. As it turns out, I will be able to set up on their neighbors empty lot next door! I checked the place out on Google Street View and it looks great and has plenty of room for our trailer of toys. It would have been nice to have known about the lot a week ago.
Again, Thank you for the advice and kind offer...
Jason

It might be outside of your 20 mile limit a little but you could try Mahlon Dickerson Reserve in Morris County,NJ. It's off of I-80. It is $20 a night with a 2 week maximum stay in any month but it has water, 50 amp electric, and a dump station. There are clean showers and paved sites with table and grill. I'll be there in three weeks to visit my daughter in Caldwell. I tried to make a reservation at Fla-Net but they stated that they are now filled with construction workers attracted by work from Hurricane Sandy. After 2 weeks I will be moving to Sun-Air campground which is less conveniently located. I haven't stayed there yet so I don't know how it will be. They have no website or online presence so I'm holding my breath.

Bring extra hose to Mahlon, the water connections are at every other site. I think I noted it on a camp map that I have at home.

Let me know if you want that information.

The sites at Mahlon Dickerson that have the water spigot in the "correct" side are: 10,12,14,16. All other will require additional hose to reach the RV.

Site 9 & 12 are our favorite. While 9 is far away from the water spigot it is on the end with woods surrounding. Site 12 sits up high.
