Very hard to advise you without knowing what you are looking for. Is it to snowbird and you want warm? Like Yuma, Quartzite, Tucson? You probably don't want Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon in winter but some do winter camp there. Here in the middle, Sedona/Cottonwood, we have mild winters with average lows about 30 and highs about 60, but some colder snaps than that, and a couple of snows each winter.

Get the New Mexico annual pass. It pays for itself in something like 20 days. It allows 14 days at 4.00/night with electricity and water. Then use it at all the parks on southern NM.

City of Rocks
Pancho Villa
Rock hound
Bottomless Lakes
Dog Canyon
Valley of Fires

There are also several federal parks in the area that are cheap if you have the geezers pass.

...as mentioned, latitude doesn't always dictate warmth, altitude is a major consideration .... But also depends on attitude--how you entertain yourself while on the road, also makes a difference, eg, Phoenix is nice but pricy, Quartzsite is cheaper but stark......

Just started full timing 2 weeks ago. Prefer to stay above 40 at night. Like mild hiking and biking.

Above 40 might be difficult around southern NM that time of year. Base out of southern AZ and drift to NM when the weather is right.

Also look anywhere along the Colorado River -- Bullhead City/Fort Mohave, Needles, Lake Havasu, Parker, Yuma, etc. There are "campsites" at every level, from luxury to bare-bones, or even boondocking on BLM land.

The possibilities and options are endless in Arizona and New Mexico. Do some research. And count on having a great time when you arrive.

We tried New Mexico in winter - even the southern part, and it was much too cold. March would be doable and probably windy. Jan & Feb... Brrrrr.

For Arizona in Jan/Feb you'd want to stay in the areas of Tucson, the greater Phoenix area and along the Colorado River from Havasu to Yuma. Those would be the warmest for those months. In March you could try for Sedona and Grand Canyon/Flagstaff but you still might have winter. No guarantees.
