Canadian Rockies to Vancouver Island, eh?

Any suggestions on routes, campgrounds, boondocking; we're planning to visit the Canadian Rockies this summer (May-Sept). maybe up from Glacier NP (USA) then to the Calgary area, then west thru rockies. Have 40' DP w/ tag towing a Jeep Liberty ; me, wife and small dog (Zorro!). Hiking, mtn biking, hot springs, food trucks, microbrews, how much fun can one have, eh? (There I go again!).

We jumped onto Canada 1 last September just west of Regina, Saskatchewan and continued west towards BC. We are not young, so hiking was relaxing not aggressive. We mostly Wally-docked until reaching Calgary.

Just west of Calgary is a town called Cochrane, Alberta. We stayed at a real nice park called Bow Rivers Edge. It abuts the Bow River. There is a wonderful path between the park and the river. Actually, it runs parallel to the river. It is a a dog walking paradise. Plenty of dogs were jumping into the water. All were having a great time. There is also a golf course within walking distance from the park.

Very near there is Banff and Lake Louise. Both very different...but both recommended. I would also highly recommend that you take the Ice Fields Parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper, Alberta. This is a wonderful full day round trip drive. For you that like to hike...I would recommend that you take this and stretch it into a week. So much to see and do.

If you do make it to Vancouver Island, don't forget the West side of the Island. A very cool place!

I hope that you enjoy your trip!
