Cape Canaveral RV Parks

After 30 years in the Navy the Cape and NASA facilities are still on the list.
Any info on affordable but decent rv parks in the area would be great. Any offering military pricing would be a plus.
We live in NE Florida so time of year is totally flexable.
Thanks.

Thank you for your service. I will be visiting Kennedy Space Center this Easter and will staying at Blue Springs State Park in Orange, FL. which is about an hour drive away. However a quick Google check found that there is a military campground on Patrick AFB on Cocoa Beach that seems you are eligible to stay at. Check it out here U.S. Military Campgrounds and RV Parks - Manatee Cove Campground and the official website at Patrick Air Force Base FamCamp - Campground With Water, Sewer, And Elecricity Non-active can't make advance reservations but there is a number you can call to find out the time of the year which is their slack time and easily find an opening.

Consider The Great Outdoors in Titusville. May be the closest to NASA. All the sites are privately owned and you'll find yourself in a very nice community. We stayed there for 4 days last winter and found it to be very nice and convenient to everything on the Space Coast.

There's a fun photo op at "I Dream of Jeannie Lane" in Cocoa Beach, the original Ron Jon Surf Shop is fun. The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge is also worth a visit. There's a nice self guided drive ($5 donation) through the salt marsh that offers great birding; more than 330 recorded species. Beautiful vistas of salt marsh, freshwater impounds, brackish estuaries, hardwood hammocks, just North of NASA.

Enjoy!

Jetty Park at Port Canaveral is a good option. Certainly not a resort but close to the action and you cal watch the cruise ships come and go.

There is a military campground on Merritt Island. I don't know the name of it, though. Went there with a Lockheed retiree to watch the last launch last month.

We stayed at the Great Outdoors in Oct, and it was a very nice place to stay.

And set aside 3 days for Cape Canaveral; I'd suggest you get the multi day pass. We spent the better part of 2 full days there, plus at least another 1/2 day at the Astronaut Museum which is a separate facility a few miles from CC. Your ticket to CC gets you into the Museum.

I will also say that of all the places we visited this past year, Cape Canaveral / Astronaut Museum and the Bethel Center for the Arts (Woodstock grounds and cultural museum) both far exceeded our expectations, and in very different ways were overwhelming experiences.

Regards and hope you enjoy CC as much as we did.

Kars Park on Merritt Island is the military campground. Right on the water, very good facilities.
