Going from Cape Cod area to Bar Harbor, ME. Any suggestions on taking I-95 or I-495 around Boston. 95 looks shorter but ??? Closer to Boston and maybe more traffic congestion?? Recommendations?
Once in Maine - how is US 1 for a 40' DP with toad?

I take my 45' on US1 no problem. Depending on where you are going, I95 may be faster if speed is your aim.

Ditto on 95 in Mass. Time of day is critical. Off hours are fine on 95.

US 1 in Maine is fine but slow. Nice easy drive but the Silver haired leaf peepers are out now. They drive slow and stop with no warnings.
My bet would be 95 to Bangor and then down through Ellsworth. Then once on the Island you can unhook the toad and be the one holding up traffic on Rt 1. Just a thought.

We just came down to Cape Cod from Maine. We started in Bar Harbor and eased down US-1 down to Camden, Rockland and Freeport. We stayed at Blueberry Pond Campground near Freeport and had a great time.
Our run around Boston was on I-95/128 then onto I-93 a short way then Hwy 3 onto the Cape.
We traveled mid-day and traffic was not bad at all.

We used I-95 around Boston with no problem. Took Maine route 3 off 95 to Ellsworth. Mistake! Bad road surface. Right side of the lane is crumbling - bouncing and jarring ride hitting holes and sunken areas.
We're heading for NH next and we'll try US 2 from Bangor and hope it's better.
