Cape Hatteras KOA?

Has anyone been here recently? My wife booked us for the first week of May. Some of the reviews I read were good, and some were not so good. We have 4 kids 9,7,6,4. and a 100lb Lab. Any experiences are very much appreciated. Thanks

I can't help you with the amenities, as I never stayed there. We always stayed next door at Camp Hatteras. Reason being cost at the time, we were going fishing. I did walk over and check them out (now it was November so most was closed). Looked like Camp Hatteras, wide open area with a concrete pad and hard packed dirt lot. Typical for the beach.

It's right on the ocean so that will not be a problem for swimming and having a good time.

I don't think you will be disappointed, just have a great time.

RVPARKREVIEWS.COM may do better.

Pretty much agree. We stayed one week last April at Camp Hatteras. We checked out Hatteras KOA while there and did not see much difference. Both were flat and sandy with some grass, paved sites, dune between sites and beach.

I suspect that the KOA in Hatteras will be in great shape this year. They took a real beating from a hurricane over-wash last fall, but my daughter, who lives on OBX says they have been working really hard on it. We actually stay just down the road at Ocean Waves, great sites, over the dunes is the ocean, and way cheaper. However, probably not the best for your kids - I believe there is a lot more for them to do at the KOA.

I would recommend Ocean waves, it's always our destination.

Ditto on Ocean Wave, but then again we don't have kids (at least not 2 legged ones), but if you're going mainly for the Ocean, then once over the sand dune it's all the same ocean. Both the KOA and Camp Hatteras have bigger pools than Ocean Waves, but you pay the price for bigger.

Thanks for the opinions. We want fun things for the kids and a good environment for mommy and daddy to enjoy the Miller Lite:-)

used to take the kids to the KOA as they always had some sort of activities for them. As the others say, if the beach on its own is the goal, I would likely pass up the KOA
