Anyone familiar with length issues at Carpinteria. Front (beach) rows show max rv length of 21' but we used to get our 26' class C in fine with the back overhanging on the sand. We now have a 33' class A and need to know if it is going to be OK on the row across from the beach where the sites say 31' max. Have not been to Carpinteria in a few years but it seems like there were several class A on this row in both the Santa Rosa and San Miguel loops. Tough to find a reservation but we are going to head that way in a couple weeks from Utah and don't want to get turned around at the gate.

Thnx.

I don't know about Carpenteria, but if you don't mind dry camping go about 12 miles south of Carpenteria to Rincon Parkway a Ventura County Park. Parallels the Ocean and sites are usually available if you arrive during the week. 14 day max stay. We love it and spent a week there in late August...beautiful sunsets and nioce beach.

I may be a little late to the party Utahgordo, but I toured the Pacific Coast Highway a few weeks ago. I stayed at Carpinteria, Santa Rosa Campground and there is a length limit of 24 feet on the beach row. I did see class A's in that row and they did have to over hang. If you tell them at the gate how long your MH is and how much over hang I'm sure they will suggest a site. My MH is 37 feet with a 12 foot over hang so I could have probably stayed in row 1 but none were available and I had to park in row 2 that is for 31 feet but they got me into a site there anyway. I must say it is tight quarters so get there before dark. Be prepared for a sticker shock, row 1 is $60 and row 2 is $50. If I went there again I would stay at Santa Cruz Campground in Carpinteria. No hookups but there is a lot of room between sites and some are very close to the beach as well and half the cost. And most can accommodate MH up to 40 feet. We usually only stay at these campgrounds for one or two nights so water and electric is not a priority for us. We dump and water up when we leave.
