Hi All, Ww will be taking off on a trip to Crater Lake towards the end of September. Does anyone know the quickest way to get there from Carson City NV? We will be towing a 24 foot TT. Also, any suggestions for campgrounds near the Lake and over near Gold Beach Oregon? Thanks in advance !!

Bob,Karen.. You'll enjoy your trip to Crater Lake and the coast I'm sure. I drove a round trip to Reno a few weeks ago and IMHO the best route is US 395 to Route A-3 about 10 miles south of Susanville. It will link again with 395 at Standish. Continue 395 to Alturas them west on CA-299, then Ca-139/Or-39 north to Klamath Falls. Make a left at the intersection with Or-140. Travel about 2 miles to the intersection with Bus.US-97(Crater Lake Hwy.) Turn right and stay on US-97 to Or-62(about 30 miles). 62 will take you to the park entrance. There are a couple of small private campgrounds in the town of Ft. Klamath and a campground at the park.
Below is a link to Oregon State Parks. There are some lovely parks, state and private on the coast. Happy Trails!!

While you are visiting Crater Lake NP, check out this great campground. We stayed for only one night but wished we could have hung out for 3-4 days. http://www.craterlakeresort.com/

Also check out our post in the campground reviews. We posted 2 pictures there.

Jim and Babe were great hosts.
