Can anyone recommend a campground near Cary, NC? I would like to overnight in the area to visit a relative.

Electric w/ dump and water fill is OK.

Thanx.

Don,
I was hoping someone who had actually stayed in the area would respond. There does not seem to be much of a choice in the Raleigh/Cary area. I have not stayed at the following CGs. They are in the area mentioned in your post.

Kamper's Lodge of America, Wilson, NC 252-237-0905 Open all year.

William B Umstead, Durham, NC 919-571-4170 Open March 15 to December 15 This CG is much closer to Cary than Durham. I was surprised at the address.

We have stayed at ROCKRIDGE campground which is close to Wilson NC. Might not be in the exact area you are looking for but it is really a nice campground - well kept - quiet and clean. We stay quite often as our son lives in Wilson - it is right off 95.

Sorry, I just checked this thread tonight for the first time in quite a while.
There are several campgrounds at Jordan Lake in Apex which is close to Cary.

We like to stay at Parkers Creek. Jordan Lake will be the closest to Cary.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like Jordan Lake is the closest.

Anyone ever stay there?

I do recommend Jordan lake. In north Raleigh there is Falls Lake that is similar to Jordan lake. Be sure to check if they lock the gates early.

Jorden Lake is nice, we have stayed there with our FCRV club. You can also stay at the NC State Fair grounds for $20 a night full hook up. They have a big flea market there every week end. Here is a link to the fair

And a link to Jarden Lake.

I live in Cary.

Jordan Lake is the obvious choice - they do close the gates at night - you must be back by the deadline or your locked out.

If you don't care about a fancy spot - he NC State Fairgrounds have full hookups - here is the writeup they post on their website w/contact info.

RV hook-up access available**

Recreational vehicle hook-up access for visits of 14 days or less. Water, sewer and electrical access is available on more than 350 sites (electricity access ranges from 30 50 amps). Rental cost for a 24 hour period is $20 per unit. Primary access is through Gate 11 from Blue Ridge Road. Individual units should check-in with Fairgrounds Public Safety at mobile 919-612-6767. Clubs and groups should contact the Fairgrounds at 919-821-7400 prior to arrival to reserve space.

Follow up -- just read thru more posts and saw your question about Jordan Lake sites...

Randy Byrd on RV.NET has a photo album with pics of one of his stays @ Crosswinds - Loop B. It looks pretty nice. You can see them here...
