Castaways in Ocean City MD

Just got home from a few days at Castaways in ocean city md. Had a nice time, kids loved the pool and beach area. Very pet friendly for the dogs. Park was full and looked like everyone was following the rules. We drove down to assateague island with our suv and fished on the beach, which was fun. Overall had a good time. Anyone else have experience at castaways?

We just spent 2 weeks recently at Castaways also. Overall our experience was nice. There have been several improvements made this past year. Yes the Park was full and crowded at times, whereas so was the pool or beach.

Negatives - Dog park has been moved to the interior of the park. Right down from the store, Dog(s) some would bark continuously at families walking to the pool or store. Inattentive owners did not call them down. The fence is about one foot from the roadway. Even at 3am a dog was inside the pet fence barking.
Also water pressure was weak in the afternoon. Maintence thought this was a good time to Water their new Sod and Asphalt. Never heard of watering Asphalt.
Don't think late afternoon is a good time for either.

Group of children in our area went to the Beach for the Flashlight/ candy hunt. Time 9pm, Went they got there at 8:55 it had already started and was over..... No candy to be found.

Overall we had a Great time! Read the owners of this park bought Frontier and Fort Whaley Campgrounds.

CC..... Happy Rving!!

We come to Castaways every year and have been very happy with our stays. This year we went again and it didn't seem as clean as prior years. The sites were muddy, missing gravel and not cleaned/straightened up in between campers. We noticed trash all around the campgrounds. We found that some of the sites are difficult to back in due to trees. The staff does not assist you to your site...we found several large A and C classes driving around looking for their sites. That can get very frustrating after a long drive. There were staff driving around in go carts everywhere. The people here are so nice though; from the campers to the staff. But, for the price, it should be exceptional. They are upgrading but other areas seem to be suffering. As far as being dog friendly, yes, absolutely, but the previous off leash area was reduced to an eighth of its size. Not so fun now for the dogs. All in all, we would stay here again but we might choose another place next year.

We were at Castaways 3 yrs ago and liked it a lot. Spent a great deal of time at their Tiki bar. That's another story.

We stopped there last summer...its an ok park but way too crowded, noisy and way overpriced. Tiki bar was nice, beach area was packed. Roads tight and nothing special about the sites except the fact you are close to Ocean City.

My wife's Aunt RV's down there near OC full time in the summer months. They gave up on the more costly Castaways and now stay over at a place in Ocean Pines. Their 5th wheel is parked year round at that location, but the campground is only open 6? months of the year.
I used to live in the area and visited Ocean City regularly. It was much less crowded in the 80's and the beaches were a bit more accessible particularly in the Northern parts away from the Boardwalk, but even recently it was a fun place to visit. Now that I live in Arizona, getting back there will be difficult.

Nice place and they will keep you in email for years. Very crowded in summer, the CG and the beach. We stayed there a few years back and just as we arrived a thunderstorm began. It rained so hard and so fast that when the rains quit the kids were kayaking in the streets. It had to be most of an hour before the water was low enough that they had to quit. But, I think that was the only rain we had during the week we stayed.
