Catherine's Landing in Hot Springs - Satellite TV Question

If you have stayed at Catherine's Landing in one of the "waterfront" sites, were you able to successfully use your satellite dome for TV? We have stayed in the park before but used the cable TV. Our preference is to park near the water, but those trees might be an issue. Thanks.

I find that the office usually knows if a site is Sat. friendly. I've had good luck that way.

Their office phone keeps rolling over to an answer machine. I booked a waterfront site since that is our preference. If the satellite doesn't work then we'll make do with watching the turtles and boats go by.

Catherin's Landing is indeed a 5-star resort. Personally I think the waterfront sites are overrated. Another consideration is late afternoon sun. I want my patio and picnic table in the shade so I can sit outside and not get baked. The next time I go there that will be my biggest consideration. Enjoy your stay...

While we were staying at HS over Labor Day weekend we drove out to Lake Cath. My DW likes her TV so I observed sat reception could really be iffy in the sites around the park where we drove. When you refer to Catherines Landing, are you not referring to the lake sites? Or, is Catherines Landing a completely separate RV park on different side of lake that I missed?

Catherine's Landing is a really nice RV resort; it has only been open for a couple of years I believe. CLICK HERE

We were there last April but didn't have our satellite dish hooked up, so we used the campground cable.

Good point. We enjoyed the waterfront sites on our last visit. We could sit on the patio and watch large turtles sunning themselves on a big log in the water. If this heat continues, we won't be spending much time outside except for trips to the bathhouses and winery in town.

Sarah, I just looked at the resort on Google Earth. It looks like in a waterfront site you will have the back of the MH facing south. There is certainly a row of trees at the waters edge, but you might be able to position the Tailgater right at the water's edge to the south of the trees. That's why it comes with a 50 foot cable!

Bruce--you were looking at the same Google Earth view as I. Unfortunately, we don't have a Tailgater...we have a TracVision dome on top of the moho. I chose a site that "appears" to be fairly open, and I'm hoping the altitude of the satellites will work in our favor.

Update for anyone interested. We found that the waterfront sites from number 115 to 124 DO have line-of-sight for DISH satellites. The satellites are high enough over the tree line for good reception.

Now Sarah, ya'll are not going to let a little heat affect your stay. I though you were a Texas Gal. That's what "instant showers" are for, the roll on gel type!

I have the Carryout so I'm hoping Site 106 river's edge will give me a view of the Southern sky. If not, the more I drink, the more I drink.

Wayne, we have already been to Hot Springs and are back home. This thread is a few weeks old.
