Catskills Rt 23, Nickerson, Country Roads & info on campgrounds in Gilboa

We are planning a trip over to the Berkshires and then a loop back through the southern Finger Lakes in NY. The part I wonder about is crossing the Catskills on Rt 23 with a 30 ft Class C and towed.

First, has anyone run RT 23 from western MA across the Hudson at Catskill and then through the mountains to Oneonta? I am assuming it takes semi trucks so it passable and interesting as I will not be in a hurry.

Second, looking at Google I see two campground in Gilboa. Nickerson Park and Country Roads. Has anyone been there? Any information appreciated.

Third, any must see's along the route?

Any advice or information appreciated.

I drove that route for many years from Mass. 7 to visit relatives in Oneonta; you should have no issues as it's a main route that's been upgraded through the years, slow vehicle lanes where necessary on grades. Sections are 55 mph posted speed limits. "Back in the day" you had to plan your route times so you didn't get stuck on a 2-lane section behind a milk truck for mile after mile....

23 is a pretty good road. Further east avoid rte. 206 between Downsville and 88 as I remember that has some pretty bad white knuckle downhills I took with my old B pulling a trailer.
