Stacey and I are thinking about taking the RV to Pismo beach or Los Osos for Thanksgiving. Does anybody have a campground recommendation for that area? I would like to be on the coast. We could boondock too. Any body want to join us?

Try Pismo Coast Village RV Resort. Usually pretty busy but its walking distance to Pismo and the beach. Flying Flags in Buellton is close to Solvang and several wineries and a Casino.

morro bay state park is a beautiful place, you must be under 35 feet, you'll be nestled under the pine trees if I remember it correctly. Get a reservation, I hear a lot of families meet up there at Thanksgiving.

Try Morro Dunes in Morro Bay and if you are an Elk, Oceano Elks Lodge and Oceano Dunes (?) There are several camp grounds in the Pismo Area, both state and county, although they are getting a little pricey.

I'll second the Morro Bay recommendation. Pismo North Beach is really cool with its grass, Eucalyptus grove, and beach access. Pismo Coast Vlg. is an RV park rather than a campground. It has a pool, clubhouse and all that stuff but the sites are so close together it feels like an RV dealership. When I stayed there I found my daughter touching the neighbors' waste hose which was right in front of our door where she always plays. I think she thought it was a slinky. North Beach is right next door and I wished I had gone there instead. I just noticed you're in San Jose so I also recommend Pfieffer Big Sur. Have a good Thanksgiving. Kel.

We responded to another similar thread with Port of San Luis. First come on the boondocking sites.

These sites are full hook up but may now cost $60 per night......yikes.

Well i called around to all the places you guys sugested. They were all full, duh, of course this close to Thanksgiving. This will be our third outing in our rig. I am very excited. I found the last spot at a place called Le Sage Riviera RV resort. It sounds perfect. A small place south of Pismo. We are getting a beach side spot. Only $44/nite. I'm thinking nice turkey sandwiches and a good bottle of win. Happy Holidays.
Thank you all for the suggestions.

We had a great time. The weather was incredible. 78 degrees on Sat. We walked to Pismo and had clam chowder in sourdough bowls a great local brew (Tapit). Rode our bikes on the beach. Relaxed and read books.

If IRCC the weather that weekend was rain on Saturday, Sunday being a better day. We were there In Feb of '10. We should have introduced ourselves

78 degrees!!! We sure do miss that weather here in Indiana, but this little guy keeps us warm.
