CG Advise Along I -10 thru Mesa AZ

March 1st we start our FT adventure, heading East on the I-10 towards FL. Our first stop will be Mesa, AZ to visit some relatives and when I did a search using Google, I was a little surprised (I am picky). We really dont need a 5 star resort, and I dont like being IN town all that much.

Has anyone stayed in a basically descent CG on the outside of Mesa? Your help and suggestions are grealty appreciated.

Thank you
Larry & Vicky

Mesa is BIG so I don't know where you want to stay. However, we always stay at one of the Maricopa Country Parks in the area. There is Usery and McDowell Mtn. in the Mesa vicinity. Lost Dutchman State Park in Apache Jct. is at the east end of Mesa. All are beautiful parks with large sites. No pools; no row after row of Park Model trailers; just the gorgeous Sonoran desert plantings and nice hiking trails. They all have paved sites and electric hookups. Some have water hookups and some full hookups. Some have dry camping sites and all have a dump station.

We love the Maricopa Parks! Usery is beautiful except for the noise from the gun range which scares our dogs. It is actually the only county park in Mesa. McDowell, while even nicer in our opinion, is a long way from Mesa as it is in Fountain Hills...... so Lost Dutchman is probably the best second alternative in Apache Jct.
