Charelston SC campgrounds

We will be traveling through Charelston...so here is my question. We were planning on not taking the toad for the simple fact that the places we are going either we don't need one or we have family in florida that have an extra car or 2. But from what I have been reading a car seems very necessary in this city. Has anyone rented a car or do they offer trollys? When we went to Savanna we didn't need a car. The trolly service picked us up right from the campground. Any suggestions or ideas?

I think James Island County Park has a shuttle to the city. It's a very nice campground.
