I will be going to ST Augustine Fla the last week in April with brief (2 day) stops in Charleston SC and Savannah GA along the way. I would like to know if anyone mite have experiences with campgrounds in some or all the above named areas?

For St. Augustine consider Stagecoach RV Park. It is near exit 318 off I95. 904-824-2319. The CG is all trees so dome mounted Sat dish may not work. The sites are above average in size. It is an easy drive into St. Augustine.

For Charleston consider Oak Plantation CG, 843-766-5936. If you go, tell them at time of reservation you want a site that gets Sat TV. Much of the CG has trees,,,,really tall trees.

In Charleston consider James Island County park. It's a great campground with full hook ups, no cable, lot's of trees but the best part would be the huge dog park for Buddy to run and play. The dog park has plenty of "friends" for Buddy to meet and greet and also he can swim in the lake Believe me he will love you for that stop.

We're heading north and are staying at a nice little campground off #95. Pull thru, cable, full service and 50 amp. Less than $20 a night.
McIntosh RV Park. It's in Townsend, GA so that might be too south for you.

We haven't camped in Savannah yet, but Skidaway Island State Park was recommended to us. About a 20 min. drive to historic area.

In St. Augustine we stay at Anastasia State Park in the Sea Urchin loop. Somewhat satellite "challenging" but a beautiful park.

Thanks for the reply's. Savannah thank you especially for the thoughts on the "puppy". The "Buds" loves to swim and it is always great to find a place where he is welcome in the water. Unfortunatly or maby fortunatly, I haven't gotten the Sat dish hooked up yet so that is not a big issue for me. I would prefer full hookups but if they are not avaliable then water and electric are ok and in a pinch just electric.

James Island County Park is very nice. We have stayed there several times. They had a shuttle into town if you do not want to drive when we were there.

Savannah has a nice KOA in Richmond Hills just south of Savannah. Full hookups, lake, cable and nice people.

Skidaway Island State Park is wonderful! We stayed for a week last Fall and it is very nice Park. Good location, easy in and out to visit Historic Savannah, and Tybee Island (Savannah's Beach). If you like seafood, we recommend Uncle Bubba's (on the right going out to Tybee Island. Paula Deen's brother Bubba, runs this resturant). We spent 3 days touring around downtown and 2 days@ Tybee Island, just a 20- 30 minute drive from Skidaway island Park to either location. Enjoy!

Yep, KOA at Richmond Hill is nice.

Also stayed at Savannah Oaks off of I-95 Exit 94. Pretty nice, convenient place.
