Chicago surgery

My wife is having surgery at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago early October. We will be there for about 5 days. She wants to travel by our motorhome rather than fly. I would appreciate suggestions on where to camp.
Thanks

Have you checked with the hospital if they have RV accomodations? Some do.

Not sure where exactly that hospital is and this is not your normal RV Park , but check out the McCormick Truck Marshaling Yard. It's basically a gigantic parking lot in the city mainly for trucks loading and unloading exhibits at the McCormick Place event center. They allow RV parking but I don't think there are any hookups.

The Cook County Forest Preserve system has RV spots. They don't accommodate large rigs. They have a website: http://fpdcc.com/camping/

There is nothing close except McCormick Place (already mentioned). After that you are outside Chicago in the suburbs, often distant suburbs. Examples are Joliet casino, Indiana Dunes State Park (IN), Union KOA, IL Beach State Park. Good luck with the camping and the surgery.

There is a County Park about 45 miles rest of Chicago. Easy on to the expressway and off.

Big Rock Campground

Hope that helps.

When my late younger brother was in the hospital for weeks in Atlanta, I asked the manager of the K-Mart across the street if I could park there at night. He said "Sure!" (I told him I would buy my supplies there and I did). Each day, I drove my RV across the street to the hospital lot and returned to K-Mart at night. It worked out nicely. I did have to travel to dump my tanks, but who cares?

Most of the people I meet when RV-ing iz good peoples.

There is a public RV PARK, in Elgin, Il. It,s on Big Timber Rd, take I 90 to Randall Rd edit. They do not take reservations, but have electric, water and dump. You can look it up on ALLSTAY, Burnidge Park. There is a train in Elgin direct to Chicago.

Chicago area campground

I agree with the suggestion made by Rburian.....the campground called "Paul Wolff Campground" which is part of the Burnidge Forest Preserve is probably the closest nice place around. Like he mentioned, it's not far from the train station which will take you into Chicago.

The other one he mentioned, the Big Rock Campground, is OK also but not as nice as Paul Wolff. Big Rock is located southwest of Aurora and would have a longer commute to downtown Chicago and is further away from a train station.

Both are part of the Kane County Forest Preserve system. My tax dollars at work ( LOL ) ...
