Chula Vista CA park closing

I just received an email from Chula Vista RV, south of San Diego CA, that their lease is up in March 2019 and they are closing.

The San Diego Port Authority is going to build a hotel and develop the entire area there.

Nice RV park and sorry to see it go.

We were just there in July. This park is run by the city. I'll be sorry to see it go also.

Last day is February 1st 2019. Last time we were there earlier this summer there was a rumor floating around that they were going relocate and rebuild in the area. If that is true it certainly will take a while before that can get done. We'll be back a couple more times before they close and will miss the place.

We were there just over a week ago, great park. We were told that they will be constructing a new park at the base of E st. Hope that comes to fruition. Anyone have suggestions for an alternative park?

There's nothing in immediate San diego area that I'm aware of that would compare.

Oceanside has a nice place, but much smaller and an hour north.

We'll be arriving at CV next week for what appears to be our last visit. Nothing else in the SD area compares, guess our visits to the area will be ending, at least until a new park opens.

There was a story in the local paper in June 2017 detailing what would be happening, just didn't have a closing date.

Yes, we will miss that place, been there many times, including quite a few short trips there with our local Winnebago owners group. There is also a KOA about 3 miles away in Chula Vista that is very nice, but not as large. It does have a café, new pool, etc. Waiting to see more about the new resort.

Did the article mention the new resort? Do you recall which newspaper?

We loved it there and were sad to get the email. We might try to squeeze one last trip in provided there is availability.

Arriving 11/1 and leaving 1/26. Might try to stay a few more nights and help shut the place down.

They’re closing one park to build another?

Chula Vista CA park closing

If you look at the map, the existing RV park is where the conference center is going to be. The new RV park is a ways away.

The closing park is on H street. Jake21 indicates that the new park will be at the base of E street. Just an off ramp or so away.
