Cleveland Campgrounds

Can anyone give me some info on some decent campgrounds near Cleveland, OH? We are going to be traveling there in mid-October for about a week. campgroundreviews.com hasn't been a huge help. We have a 40-foot Class A with toad. I like clean.

There aren't any close in to Cleveland. Best bet I'd suggest w/fhu's is Streetsboro KOA.

We have reservations at Geneva-0n-the-Bay State Park east of Cleveland. Never been there before but it looks nice. May be too far for a Cleveland visit though.

I live around there and there isn't much close to downtown. The fairgrounds are the closest, I've been to the fairgrounds lots of times and never seen the "campground". I think it's the grass lot to the west, but don't know. If you plan on staying there check their website to see what's going on at that time.

Grounds Event Calendar | Cuyahoga County Fair

Something like Oktoberfest could be a lot of fun to be near, or a complete nightmare depending on what you looking for.

We are local to CLE. We are west siders, which matters in this town. :-).

Nearest campground to CLE is American Wilderness outside of Grafton. It would take between 30-45 min to get downtown CLE from there, depending on how you drive

Next is Findley State Park just south of Wellington. Probably about an hour to downtown CLE from there. They have a few newer full hookup sites that will fit a 40', and definitely some of the gravel/electric sites will, also. We stay here often. The Lorain County Fair is coming up (starts next week IIRC) based out of Wellington, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if the state park filled up. There is also camping, at least during fair time, at the county fairgrounds in Wellington.

I've had so-so luck at the east side beach-based parks

1.5-2 hours S/ SW of CLE is the Mohican State Park area. LOTS of camping options and a gorgeous area

You could also PM me for other info if you like

I'm another west side suburbanite as it was said nothing in the city of Cleveland itself. Do a search on this topic, it was discussed not too long ago. The fairgrounds are not very far from me alas I have never checked it out, I believe it's dry camping only.

This site was posted several months ago, I have never been there myself.

Although these are a bit of a drive to Cleveland (I'm a far east sider, Lake County) I can recommend the KOA in Shelby/Mansfield

Shelby, Ohio Campground | Shelby / Mansfield KOA

These 2 KOA's are a bit closer.

Homerville KOA is near Shelby/Mansfield

Homerville, Ohio Campground | Homerville KOA

Thompson/Grandriver KOA is near Geneva On the Lake, just south of I-90.

Thompson, Ohio Campground | Thompson / Grand River Valley KOA
