CO UTV Trail Riding and Campgrounds

Hello all

Just bought a new toy a Honda Pioneer 1K5dlx SxS
Looking to take it to CO this summer to enjoy some trail riding. Anyone have some great areas for site seeing just scenic cruising. Not into rock climbing just yet.
Would love to have a nice campground close by to base out of with room for trailers and such.
Was thinking about the Ouray area, any help and thoughts would be appreciated.

Eric

The Silverton area has almost endless opportunities for exploring back roads and jeep trails on ATV's. Up along the Engineer and Cinnamon Pass roads there are dozens of branch roads and trails that can be explored. Most lead to old mine sites. You can read about it and see lots of videos on You Tube.

Start with Silverton Lakes RV park and that should lead you to some other links. Google Engineer pass for descriptions and videos. Use Google Maps in Earth view to check out the area.

You can spend all summer at Taylor Park Reservior and still not hit all the trails. There are a couple campgrds or can boondock.

Winding River Resort in Granby CO, though not in the Ouray area, is great for side by sides. You can get to the main trailhead from the campground and there is a pretty extensive trail system throughout the area. We ride ATV, so width restriction is never an issue for us, but can be on many trails. (48" gates). This area does have some restricted width trails, but most are not.

KOA in Ouray is great. Run by a guy from Austin TX. Have a good barbecue on the weekends. With small band.

Check out O'haver lake. Great little lakeside campground and the Marshall Pass area is replete with riding areas and OHV areas.
