Cody WY
We are coming from Rapid City SD , taking I-90 west, what is safest route for us to take to get to Cody Wy, we will be towing a 35ft 5th wheel with a 3/4ton Ram 2500HD with tow package, we are newbies and want to avoid any steep grades ?
One guy suggested for us to take 16 hwy out of Buffalo to Worland then to Greybull and 14 out of Greybull to Cody . Is this a safe route?

I90 to 14 is good road all the way some hills but your other options add 100+ miles to the trip.

16 is a good route from Buffalo. However, if you want to avoid almost all mountain driving take I-90 west through Billings. Turn south on 310 at Laural. The railroad bridge south of Laural is 14' 1'. Take 310 south through Bridger. South of Bridger a couple of miles take a right turn on highway 120, 72. After you cross the Wyoming border a few miles take 294 left (very small sign) over to 14A. 14A south to Cody. By taking the Badger Basin road (294) you will miss the small pass on 120. Few curves and hills on that entire route but no steep grades.

Vetl82, Be sure and stop at the Montana meat market (?) located on the south side of RT 20 west out of Cody and before the Rodeo. Best grilling stakes we found in our travels. Also don't miss the Buffalo Bill Museum.

Believe you are talking about Cody Meats. They are out of business.
