Well, I did go camping this weekend, finally. Haven't been in 6 weeks due to family 'stuff'....
Never been here before. Not many campers. Some mosquitoes still but not bad.
We went hiking and canoeing and biking within the park area.
Went to Faxahatchee Preserve and did the scenic
loop (gee, I mean potholes....) and then the boardwalk (2500 ft out) that was great. We saw eagles and woodpeckers and alligators. I enjoyed it and will go back again, hopefully when a little cooler so NO skeeters!

Hi.! We spent Sun., Mon.,and tues. Boondocking at a "closed-for-the-winter" Corps park,near us on the Mississippi River, ice fishing. We,too, saw lots of Eagles and deer, but alas, no gators! But mosquitoes were NOT a problem!! Coldest nite was -7, warmest day was +21! Going again on the 27th(the fish are biting) then on the 4th, we're heading to Fla. for 2-3 weeks! Maybe we'll "cross-paths" Happy Holidays, and Happy Camping!!! CROW

Crow,

Where in Florida are you going?
We are 'south' Florida, near Ft. Lauderdale!

Hi,! We usually go to st. Georges Is. ,but that park is closed, due to the storms. So, this winter we're thinking about the Manatee Springs area,maybe some of the Forest Service campgrounds,east of there.If you're acquainted with that area, are ther some nice campgrounds ? It seems ALL of the state parks in Fla. are SUPER ! CROW

Crow,

I just replied under 'campground information'
about Ocala Natl Foret CG's.
If you want any other info, just ask.
I am familiar with a lot of the SP's in FL
as we rarely get OUT of Florida, living in
the Ft Lauderdale area, gotta go at least 2
hours just to find a decent place to camp!

Crow;

I am planning a 10 night trip 'round Florida, leaving Atlanta, GA area on Friday, 1/5/06.

Itineray is;
2 nights at Stephen Foster Folk SP
4 nights with brother in Ft. Myers
3 nights in Ft. Lauderdale ( Yacht Haven & Marina)
2 nights at Anastasia SP

We haven't stayed at any of the parks before. Do you have any comments on these places? Happy New Year!

Harry

Hi,! No OOPS! required!If it wasn't for mistakes, most days I wouldn't get ANYTHING done!!! But, Stephen Foster is a nice park, and so's the one in Ga.I've found that SPs in any state are hard to beat! Happy Campin' CROW

Illinois Crow;

Yep, you're right. But thanks for your recommendation.

I have to learn to refer to the "campground info" section of this site. Hope them 'skeeters have stopped biting by the time we get to South Florida.

No Skeeters here......it is too cool right now.
I have been to Stephen Foster & it is wonderful!
I haven't been to Anastasia SP (it is on my list)
as far as the yacht & marina club---well, you may as well stick with that as I doubt if Markham Park, or CB Smith Park or TY Park has any openings due to fema trailers. This place probably won't allow them there!
Have a great vacation!
Jody
