Colorado area camping & sightseeing suggestions.
We're currently in Gillette attending the FMCA rally. We'll leave tomorrow for Thermopolis, Wy for a couple of days. After that we will head south toward Colorado. We need to be in Kansas City August 8th but until then we want to visit Colorado and surrounding areas. So I'm looking for suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Something like this - https://binged.it/2mzzFKO - or any part that works for you.
Just a few of the FUN/GOOD spots are mentioned in the Point to Point - we love this loop and take it or part of it anytime we get the Chance.
Just a thought,

Just west of CO Springs are Pikes Peak, and also Florissant Fossil Beds. Fun day trip into St. Elmo - called a ghost town, but still occupied. Up in Boulder area are several craft breweries, and also Celestial Seasonings Tea - all with tours. Lots to see/do in CO!

Wife & I are planning our Sept trip now. We'll go to Estes Park, Montrose, Ouray, Breckinridge, Canon city (ride the Royal Gorge train), Colorado Springs with stops as needed along the way.

CO
Love Tiger Run Resort. It’s about 5 miles N of Breckenridge. There are a couple high altitude jeep trails you can access with a stock vehicle only a few miles from the resort. Check out Georgia Pass. The Colorado Trail passes through the resort, so the hiking is plentiful. If you’re a bit more adventurous, Keystone and Trestle have downhill mountain bike parks nearby with Trestle being arguably the best in the lower 48. Plenty of jeep, UTV, and Moto trails with access a few miles from the resort. The restaurants in Frisco and Breckenridge are plentiful an there are some excellent fine dining choices. The area is beautiful. Here’s a pic of my oldest looking over the cliffs at some goats as another approaches him. It’s taken about 3 weeks ago on Wise mtn after topping out from Garibaldi Gulch. 5 miles from the resort.
Have a great trip!

After a few trips into CO, I would suggest go down the east side of the Rockies for stops at the RMNP and CO Springs. Then take US-50/ US-285 to Buena Vista. Back on US-50 to Gunnison/Crested Butte. Then to Montrose, Ridgeway or Ouray to visit those areas plus Telluride. Then CO-62 (not US-550) and US-160 to Durango (to visit there and Silverton. From there US-160 east or US-550 south to work your way home.

I meant to say CO-62/CO-145 over Lizard Head Pass from Ridgeway.

I've been on all of them in my 45' towing and you will cross two passes if I recall - Monarch on US-50 and Lizard Head on CO-62/145, then Wolf Creek if you choose to go east on US-150 - I had no issues with any on them.

that's "go east on US-160" - the dog jumped on my lap and blocked the screen as I hit enter - it used to eat my homework too

We were at Estes Park, CO for 4 nights at two different parks. We could not get 4 consecutive nights anywhere. We visited Rocky Mtn Nat Park and hiked the Bear Lake Trail and Emerald Lake Trail. We also drove the Alpine Trail Drive. Loved strolling around Estes Park.
From there we went to Heaton Bay CG in the White River Forest. This is near Breckenridge and Vale. Beautiful National Forest CG with no hookups and a view of the reservoir. We stayed for 3 nights, biked the loop partially around the reservoir, and visited Vale, Co.
After Heaton Bay we went to the Chapman CG also in the White River Nat Forest and with no hookups for 3 nights. It's located 30 miles/1hr from Basalt/Aspen. Also a beautiful CG but a 1 hr drive from anything. Our friends showed us around the area to include the Maroon Bells, Snowmass village, Aspen, Redstone and Marble, Co.
We left yesterday and are currently in the Pikes Peak area at a private CG. We walked into Manitou Springs this morning, a 15 minute walk. This afternoon we may ride up to Pikes Peak. This CG is centrally located and I think we can bike over to Garden of the Gods. We'll be here 3 nights before heading east toward Kansas City.
Yup, we've been busy and have thoroughly enjoyed Colorado.
