Colorado for Offroading
I started a thread for "Colorado for RVers" in irv2.

What I have noticed in that thread and others threads in irv2 is interest and conversation from others about offroading in Colorado. So, why not. I'll start a thread about offroading in Colorado and see if we can get other offroaders to tell us where we can take our Jeeps, Bicycles, etc. Anything to get off the beaten path ... Getting off the road and exploring is the way we like it while RVing

Alpine Loop Scenic Byway

Tincup CO
Tincup is at an elevation of 10,157 feet (3,096 m) at 38°45′16″N 106°28′42″W
A historic town with a violent past where Marshalls did not live long.
Town named after someone panned some gold and brought it back to camp in a tin cup.

We do the Alpine Loop starting at the other end in Lake City, Co
and right from my summer homebase driveway we have about 500 miles of trails in the South Fork/Creede area (some limited to ATV or motorcycle only), some going up to 13,000 ft elevation like this shot

The OP mentions the town of Tincup. Wonderful trail from the ghost town of St. Elmo up over Tincup Pass and down into Tincup. Tons more trails throughout the area to explore.

A couple of years ago, we spent a week in Silverton. From there we did Black Bear Pass, Imogene Pass, the Alpine loop, Stoney Pass and Ophir pass. Great scenic trails as long as you don't mind shelf roads with 1000 ft drop offs.

My two grandsons and I did the Apline loop last summer.... It was a BLAST - especially liked going over the summit at engineer pass.... That will tighten up those butt muscles....

We haven't found anyplace better in Colorado than the Silverton/Ouray area. There are so many neat trails for every ability. The only one we haven't done is Black Bear. We'll be there for our 8th time in a few weeks. Can't wait!

There are some great trails around Crested Butte. This week we did the Devil's Punchbowl from Schofield Pass to Marble. That will get your heart racing. There is also Crested Butte to Aspen by way of Pear Pass which is great and Reno Divide over to Taylor Reservoir.
We will be leaving on Sunday for Lake City where we will do Engineer's Pass from there.
The Colorado mountains have a lot to offer.

We love going off roading in Colorado. We spent a week In Ouray and we did quite a few trails including Blackbear Pass. I cant wait to go back next year.

We have been going to Ouray since back in the 1970's originally carrying off road MC's. Moved to Jeeps in 1998 and on third Jeep now. For the past five years we spend a month in Ouray leaving when it gets to 105 - 110 in Texas. I am sure there are trails we have not done, but we have done all of the major trails many times over the years. It is great to take a picnic lunch and do lunch on Engineers Pass or Imogene at 13,000'! It is about as close to Heaven as you can get on earth! Last September we saw a Moose cow and calf north east of Silverton!
We should be in Ouray now, but a number of conflicts surfaced and I am not sure if we will be able to go this year. If not, it will be the first year in the past 15 we have not gone to Ouray in August. The mountains are calling and I find it hard to resist.......

Where do you stay in Ouray? We're planning on a CO trip next year. Last year we were in Durango which we loved, but would like to explore other places too. Will have the FJ Cruiser, 2 off-road motos and 2 mountain bikes with us.
