We are heading to Oregon/Washington next month specifically the Columbia River Gorge region. We were there two years ago and stayed in a KOA near the railroad tracks. Ity was OK, BUT wondering if there might not be another choice or two to consider.
I appreciate any info. Is Mt Hood village too far for day trips to the Gorge area?

Ronnie

G'morning Ronnie: Wife (Lynette) and I travel full-time in a 45' motorhome (Newmar Essex) towing a Honda Element and drove along the Columbia River Gorge route from East to West primarily on I-84 this past October as we returned from Alaska. We ended up staying at a wonderful RV Park in Troutdale, East of, but outside of Portland. Can't recall the name of the park and my memory (Lynette) is still asleep...but will let you know later. Anyway, we then toured the Gorge from this park driving our toad back Eastward and exploring along the way to the Dalles then back Westward to the park at Troutdale. We'd really suggest driving along Oregon Hwy. 30 East from and out of Troutdale. This VERY scenic route is high above I-84 and offers spectacular vistas of the Columbia River and numerous stopping spots to view sights, waterfalls, and other attractions. Also, Troutdale is a cute little town with shops, and great restaurants...(try the Italian restaurant). Have a great time...you'll like it! Steve & Lynette

Here are 2 listings I found online...I believe we stayed at the Fairview Park in late summer of 1997. The one Chickadee mentioned is probably Sandy Riverfront RV...it has info in the link at the bottom of his post...

Portland Fairview RV Park
Troutdale, OR, phone: (503) 661-1047

Rolling Hills Mobile Terrace & RV Park
Troutdale, OR, phone: (503) 666-7282

Here are two others listed...whatever you do... you should enjoy your stay...it is gorgeous country in the gorge area!
