Columbus to Orlando - 2 Overnight Stops

In another 21 days we will be heading to Orlando. Done it a couple of times straight through, but mostly with one overnight stop. This time we will be leaving on a Friday afternoon and have two overnight stops. We want to stay at State Campgrounds and enjoy them before it gets dark. With that being said, we want to drive 3 or 4 hours on Friday afternoon, then 5 or 6 on Saturday, and get to Orlando on Sunday.

What are your recommendations on State Campgrounds that matches that schedule. Thanks in advance.

My 2 cents...

3-4 hours south of Columbus I'm picturing you in Northern Kentucky, if you find a nice State/Federal/County campground please post. We come up through that way each year on our homeward trek from Clearwater FL, and Northern Kentucky would be the perfect stopping point for us also. If we find a park worth stopping for I will gladly share.

Another 5-6 hours south of Northern Kentucky I'm picturing you in Southern Tennessee or Northern Georgia. My recommendation is Fall Creek Falls State Park in Southern Tennessee. The Falls should be beautiful in late March, and one of the nicest State Parks we have ever been to.

Enjoy and have a safe trip!!

Thanks for the reply BirdDoggin. I think I figured out the best stops. From Columbus to Boonesborough State Park, KY is 3.5 hours. Then from there to High Falls State Park, GA is 6 hours....then from there to our final destination Hillsborough State Park, FL is another 6 hours.
