We're going to these two cities and need advice on where to camp at these locations? Larger sites, big rig friendly and reasonable rates, please.

Hi Bob and Carol -
The Texas Boomers haven't had a rally in Galveston since 2000 and have never had one in Corpus Christi, so I cannot personally recommend a park, but I did a google search of area parks and here are the links. Hopefully you'll find just what you are looking for!

My wife & I camp hosted at Galveston Island State Park last summer. 30 amp service, bath houses, water, dump located between the 3 camping circles. Lots of seaweed on the beach as the summer progresses. Rate was about $20 as I remember. 2 camp host sites at each circle. Friendly folks.

We have stayed at the Galveston Island State Park many times and always enjoyed it. At Corpus we have stayed at one of the "county" parks along the beach. It was nice, but not equal to Galveston. Corpus has other parks, but we have not tried any of them. Have fun!

We have stayed at several different RV parks in Port Aransas and they were all nice. We now mostly stay a the Navel Base in CC (cheaper and fishing pier is right there).

Seems like a lot of people like the beachfront campgrounds, but I am of the opinion the salty air will promote rusting of my rig. Isn't this a problem?

Memorial Day weekend I stayed at Quintana Beach County Park ( http://www.brazoriacountyparks.com/Quintana) and really enjoyed it. They have a boardwalk to the private beach and several shaded pavilions. All the sites have full hookups, table, and BBQ grill. There is a nice bathhouse with showers and laundry facilities. Quintana, TX is close to the Freeport/Surfside area. You can call the park for more information at 1-800-872-7578.

Salt air is corrosive, that is why I spend a fair amount of time painting exposed metal areas of the RV.
If you don't mind paying $40 a night, Jamaica Beach RV Park is excellant, except it is across the road from the beach. The have cont. b'fast, wifi, pool, exercise room etc. State park doesn't have sewer, have to use dump station. Dellanera Park is County owned and close to business area.

Goose Island State Park near Rockport is nice. It's approximately 30 minutes from CC and has sites on the waterfront or away from the water. We've never stayed on the water but have several trips staying in the other loops.

Goose Island State Park is nice but I recommend the sites right by the water otherwise the mosquitoes will carry you off. Friends have stayed in the sites across from the ones by the water and complained the entire time (lack of breeze and swarms of mosquitoes). I was on the water side and had no problems (great breeze and no bugs). We have never camped in any of the loops - only down by the water.

I don't think there are very many (good) campgrounds in CC. Most folks stay in Rockport, Aransas Pass or Port Aransas. Visit RV Park Reviews, lots of choices around CC.

The State park on Galveston Island is great with the beach in your face. Most of the RV Parks on the Island are a little shabby (IMHO). The nicest is Galveston Island RV Resort.

If you are coming into Galveston on I45 there is a great RV Park about 10 miles from Galveston.

Lots of great seafood in Port Aransas

I forgot to mention another pretty new park on Galveston island that I have heard is nice. Jamaica Beach RV park is on the southern end of the island, I think just past midway.
