Dallas RV Parks
Hi all. We are going to a business convention in Sept 2015 in downtown Dallas. We want to stay as close as possible. Can anyone recommend a safe and decent RV park that can handle a 40 footer within a few miles of downtown Dallas?

The best place close to downtown Dallas IMHO is
http://www.vineyardscampground.com/mobile/#home
A little pricey but worth it.

I concur. I have stayed there sevral times. It is a really nice park, but a little pricey. We have also stayed at Cedar Hill State Park. They have some large 50A sites with good privacy. It is also pretty close in and cheaper than The Vineyards.

Thanks for the input. I am trying to get inside the I20/I635 ring. Any suggestions?

Trader Village is another. My Aunt and Uncle were full timing there for several years. We stopped there for an overnight. It is decent.

I like Vineyard also but it is a ways to your desired area, I have stayed at Treetops, not as nice as Vineyard but better location for your desire, I have also stayed at Sandy Lake (been a number of years though).

Not gonna happen.
Nothing inside 635 and I-20.
Cedar Hill SP and The Vinyards are your best options.
The commute to downtown from Cedar Hill SP might be faster.

The Bass Pro Shop and surrounding area near Vineyards is a big plus for visitors. Driving DFW is never fun. No matter where you stay you will drive... might as well be in a nice place. Most in the area are not that nice. Dallas is a hotel and convention area - not an RV paradise. But Vineyards is close to it. You can get sites on the water - there are fire pits at the sites, picnic table - some have wooden decks.
Sandy Lake and Traders Village don't come close, and Treetop is OK but I don't think it positions you any better. Preference I guess and just MHO.

I have stayed at Vineyards 3 times. 1st time was in my last night before trading my 5th wheel. Left the next morning and returned with the MADP to stay in it for the 1st night. It is a very nice place and I would stay there again. I was stuck there for 3 days in Feb, after picking up the MADP from some warranty work, and didn't mind it a bit.
The 3rd photo is Cedar Hill. Cedar Hill State Park is very nice too. Very nice sites with good privacy. Easy access from I-20 or Hwy 67.

Had the drivers front settel pretty bad into the pad on first visit during a wet season. There is Destiny in Denton, which has mixed reviews, stayed once at Hi-Lo in far south Dallas and would rate it marginal at best and another. Too many run down units that haven't been moved in years and even though they offered Wifi on their site, it had been down for the better part of a year. Stayed once at Post Oak Place just south of Denton and rated it only as OK The nicest of them in which we've stay was the KOA in Arlington, just a long drive into the city.
