I made reservations today for Davidson River campground near Brevard, NC for the middle of October. I've heard so many good things about this place I decided it was time that we went and checked it out for ourselves.

Does anyone have anything that they would like to add about this campground or the surrounding area.

Yep, I will be boondocking. Facilities provided include fire rings, picnic tables, lantern posts, gravel tent pads, hot showers, and flush toilets. Popular activities include fishing, hiking, biking, tubing and sight-seeing. Local attractions include Looking Glass Falls, Sliding Rock, the State Fish Hatchery and the Cradle of Forestry Discovery Center.
It is my understanding that it has security 24 hrs a day up until October the 31st and is located in the PISGAH FOREST.

Have not been there. But it is a good location.
Walmart, Lowes and tuns of eateries are at the intersection of 276 and 64 less than 2 miles.
You will be about 24 miles (up the mt.) from Lake Toxaway, Cashiers, and Highlands. It would be worth a day trip to come up and see this area. White water Falls on 281 in Sapphire is the highest waterfall in the eastern US. Worth seeing. Highlands is a great shopping town (expensive) but fun.
All the other places mentioned are fabulous also. Great area to be in October.
