Dayton, Ohio
Traveling through the Dayton, Oh. area in June 2011. Looking for a one nighter. Found several in the area, but nothing like experience. Thank you.

There is a nice KOA on 70 near Dayton. But if you're only interested in an overnight stay, you'd be wasting your money as it isn't cheap. Just pick on that is convenient and has the facilities you want.

The KOA in Dayton is nice. Stay a few days and go and see the Air Force Museum.

Do you need hook ups or just a place to catch some zzz's for a few hours? Are you military or retired military? Are you travelling E/W on I-70 or N/S on I-75? Radius from Dayton you want? Let me know & I can give you some options.

Old, the KOA there was very nice when we were there and fairly convenient to I 70 I think.

Thanks for the replies. Lori, traveling E/W on I-70. Usually our overnight stops means we will arrive sometime mid afternoon so we can have a decent late afternoon and evening to get ready for the next day. Prefer campground setting within +/- 5 miles of travel route. Thanks again.

Ok, your closest to I-70 would be the Dayton KOA (actually Brookville) others referenced. You're probably in the range of $50/night for fhu. If I remember correctly, get off at exit 24 off of I-70.
FamCamp at Wright-Patt is great if you're military or retired military. Much cheaper than the KOA.
Beaver Valley Resort (not sure where these campgrounds get "resort") has new owners & is on it's way to being a decent CG. About 40 min east of Dayton.
Natural Springs Resort (still not a "resort", but closer ) is right at the OH/IN border, about 45 min west of Dayton. It's one of my favorites (see pics in my photo album linked below). Gotta get back there this year.
John Bryan is the better of the closer state parks - electric only (it has 50a, the other, Buck Creek, doesn't), water avail nearby, dumpstation near check-in. I mention this one because I saw you have your coach for sale in our Classifieds. If you're downsizing you could fit, but if you've still got your 40ft-r, pass & go for either of the 2 above.
Stay away from Enon Beach. Electrical problems have plaged that place for years, it's a neglected CG & many of the permanents are in quite a state of disrepair or abandoned.
Hope this helps you.

We stopped at the Dayton KOA for a one nighter last July, it was perfect.
Easy in and out, convenient, clean and quiet.

Thank you, everyone, for your help. Did my due diligence and have booked my stay at Natural Springs Resort. It fits the best with the travel schedule. Again, thanks.

Great, Bill. I think you'll like it. HERE's my review (if you didn't already check it out).
It's been a while since we've been there so my memory isn't clear. The sites that butt up against the quarry lake are nice, but popular & fill fast. For 1 night, might not be worth it. I know they've also got sites with cement paved pads/patios - I want to say those are the peach colored ones on the campground map that face the lakefront ones, but I'm not sure. The others I like are in row 186-201. They back to a field so no one is behind you. I get 186 because of it's wide lot.
Recommended eating: Baumbach's BBQ Pit = yummy! Pam's Diner is right next to Natural Spring's entrance, but we haven't eaten there.
You're also just a stone's throw from Richmond & there's plenty of places to eat there, if you prefer national chains. If you were staying longer, I would've mentioned stopping at Tom Raper RV (claims to be the largest dealer in midwest) to look around. They offer shoppers free hot dogs & pop. I think they do that to keep you from leaving the lot & them possibly losing a sale. We spent 6 hours there one time, just looking & eating (but we didn't buy )
