Daytona International NASCAR Coke 400 in July

Has anyone on the forum ever camped in the infield of the Daytona International Speedway for a NASCAR race? We are planning on being there in July. Looking for experiences, tips, etc. Thanks.

Coke 400 in July

We went to the 400 four years ago. We did not stay in the infield but stayed down the road at the Daytona KOA and had a full hook up site. The price is high during race week but we had a membership which helped lower the rate and we accumulated many points. The campground does NOT have a pool though but is right across the street from the Daytona Flee Market. It is about a 2 mile walk to the track. They do have a shuttle $$ or limo service$$$ to the track.

cpr very big grin,

If you can't get a spot in the inside of DIS, then go to:

Passport America Campgrounds

It is 1 mile west of the KOA on the ISB (US-92), has pools and the owner's are great. Tell Sean / Dave (owners) that Bob & Inga sent you.

We have spent some time there (winter) and love it. Check:

PS stop at the Wing House (just E of I-95 on the ISB), happy hour is pretty good and the girls are not that bad either.

We've stayed outside turn 1 on the track property and also at several of the nearby RV parks. It will be HOT and getting in and out of the infield will be a pain so bring everything you need. .... one thing to consider might be to bring an inflatable kids pool and fill it up if you are in the section that has water on turn 1.
