Denali Park Camping Question

We are in Fairbanks and will be heading to Denali in a week.

We want to stay in Tek park in Denali Park.

Vendor website says 40' max length for RV's.

We are in a 41.5' Dynasty.

From your personal experience from visiting the park will they measure our coach and turn us away?

Thanks for you reply !

We did not stay in Tek campground, but did drive through it last year. If you get one of the larger sites you maybe ok, but most of the sites were not that long.

no3putt: How did you drive thru Tek? Only registered campers can get there and no driving after you arrive until you leave. No siteseeing with your vehicle. Just wondering....

To the OP: We are 40' and they could have measured at the entry station, I suppose - hard to tell the real length of an RV by just looking. We didn't get measured so my guess is perhaps they wouldn't measure you - just don't know for sure. The road to TEK is gravel but was in excellent condition. We didn't see another vehicle going or returning. We drove very slow because we were looking for critters as we drove it. I will say, however, that a 'big rig' site is not reservable. You would only be guaranteed a site and there weren't a lot of long sites there. We stayed the previous 5 nights in Riley Creek at the park entrance (& there are quite a few big rig sites there if you get there early morning - we boondocked nearby the previous night and got a site at Riley without reservations. Then for our Tek reservation we had to leave our towed vehicle in a special parking lot which was near Riley Creek. We then took off on our drive to Tek at 8 am in the morning. We arrived at Tek early so we could have a good choice of sites of those leaving that morning. We did secure a excellent big site and folks must have left super early because we didn't see any on our drive to TEK.

Tek campground is an awesome experience. You need to buy the special TEK bus pass. Once at the campground you can board the shuttle bus as many times during your stay as you want and go as far as you want. You can get off where you want and pick up the next bus coming by - usually every 15 min. or so. We went animal scouting many times during our 5-night stay at TEK. There is no dump station or water fill at TEK but there is one at Riley Creek so come prepared.

So our total stay that August in Denali was 10 nights - 5 in Riley Creek in the front of the park and 5 at TEK. We filled every day and saw "The Mountain" 7 out of 10 days and saw a representation of every animal living there! We had excellent weather. We envy you your trip into Denali! It's a very special experience and made even more so by staying IN the park.

We stayed at Denali RV Park and Motel. It is about 8 miles from the entrance to the park, a nice drive. The park is clean and the sites were big enough for our 30ft 5th wheel with 2 slides. Sewer, cable tv and internet are available. They have some bigger sites. I do not recommend the Denali Rainbow Village. Sites are on top of each other, very tight.

We spent 5 nites at teklinika last year with a 39 ft mh. there were plenty of long sites, be advised that you cannot take your rig out of the cg. once you get there unless your leaving. [As a side note we were there when the Bear incident happened.]
