Hi and

I'm not terribly familiar with the area but a couple of years ago we did have a great spot west of Denver at about 9000 feet elevation. I believe the name of the CG was Gambler's Roost and we got a pull in site on the edge of a cliff looking way down at a famous old mining town... I think it was called BlackHawk and has apparently been a popular casino/entertainment spot dating back to Sinatra and the Rat Pack.

Kind of depends on what you're looking for but you might want to check it out.

Again, welcome and we're glad you found us.

Rick

We stayed here last year when we visited our son in Denver and found it nice:

Essential Colorado RV Resorts - Dakota Ridge - www.essentialcoloradorv.com

I would stay there again.

Prospect Park in Wheat Ridge. It is right by Travel America and not far from Camping World.

There is Chatfield State Park in SW Littleton. It is a beautiful park.

TwoMurphs:

As "campgal" suggested, DO check out Chatfield State Park. Great location for tours up into the mountains, or into Denver. VERY neat, clean, spacious. It's a GOOD ONE!!

We spent a day at the Denver KOA West in Central City. Its quite the haul up to it (steep!), but it was nice and the views were nice. About 35min to downtown Denver.

chatfield

We spent a week in June in Chatfield state park . It is a nice park and a nice central location to go to Rocky Mtn Nat Park or Garden of the Gods and also into Denver.
The only bad thing about state parks in Colorado and some other states is that there is a daily fee in additon to the camping fee. When people came to see us at the campsite they had to pay $8 a carload. We also paid the $8 a day in addition to the camping fee.
