Denver to Portland- Where to go?

The wife and I are planning on a trip from Denver to Portland to celebrate our anniversary (we met in Portland 10 years ago). We are definitely going via RV but it may be a rental. Any got some off the beaten path recommendations that we should check out?

The trip is planned for early December so we have some time and want to plan it as well as we can.

Thanks everyone!

That could be a bad time to travel in a rental RV.

I-80/I-84 would be the best route rather than some secondary highways. You also might find RV parks closed.

Why not do a rain check for spring? I think you'd enjoy it a lot more.

Thanks twogypsies- I think that's a good point.

I think we are set on an RV trip around that time but maybe we will look at heading south east instead. A focus on the south part first.

Spring is good advice, or fly to Vegas to rent an RV .
We try to leave Boulder before Nov 1st otherwise you are driving in bad conditions and must leave the RV winterized until you get to warmer climate.

Oregon has chain laws that insome cases you have to carry chain even that your not using them. Might want to google Oregon chain laws for more information.

There parts of that route I would not want to drive in a rental RV. There many states which will have snow chain laws in effect in December. Even if
there no snow, some states require you to have chains with you on certain
roads.

I would wait myself until late spring.
