Now you know WHY we chose the Verde Valley when we decided to come off the road and back into a S&B

I've lived in Sedona and the Verde Valley since 1976. I get discouraged with the traffic and development that's taken place the last 20 years or so, but it's hard to find fault with the natural beauty of the place. I live next to a spring-fed creek that runs year round-- a rarity in these parts-- and still haven't found any place I'd rather call home.

CamJam1, thanks for sharing with us. We have great memories from our trip. I can imagine the traffic and development can be trying at times for locals.

Thanks for the nice overview and narrative. It is so nice that you take the time to share all of this with the rest of us. We too chose to settle in Sedona and the Verde Valley as our home base in retirement and semi-retirement. Make us the third of those to speak up here already. We have only been here for going on three years so still discovering too. I am trying to figure out where your second lunch stop was. I don't recognize the woven chairs and railing in the background. You chose well with The Hudson though. Thanks again for sharing.

Hey Al, looks like we’ve had our two Adventurers in the same vicinity this month. We’re in Colorado now but spent the past 12-days in northern AZ. We should have met up in Flagstaff or there abouts.

We get to Durango today for the next week, but it looks like we’re expecting some snow, maybe too much.

We were there in April, but it would be great to cross paths. Let us know when you are in the San Francisco Bay Area!

Dead Horse Ranch in Cottonwood is a nice state park and centrally located to Sedona, the Verde Valley, Jerome and Prescott.

October usually offers the best weather. It's normally getting pretty hot here by now, but this year has been very mild so far. End of June and 1st week of July are usually the hottest, but then the summer monsoons come and we trade temperature for humidity. Only downside to that is that our normal cool desert nights usually disappear for awhile once the humidity rises.

We average about 20 inches of rain per year, and my dad always jokes that we get most of that in about 20 minutes.
