Desperately Seeking Escape from Joaquin

Currently living in South most part of Maryland. Was getting ready to kick off our 12 day trip over to eastern shores of Maryland for a WIT Rally and additional fun. Looks like that is not going to happen with Joaquin coming straight up into the Chesapeake Bay.

Seeking ideas on where we can head west for about four days before heading back towards the Eastern Shore. When I ay west, I am thinking 6-8 hours; not to CA, or WA like some of you were thinking.

Our schedule had us leaving tomorrow for Cape Hatteras. Yikes! We have scrapped that plan. Heading for North Georgia.

Just came off the Cape, today. Been there since last Thursday.

Rain and wind every day

The roads are flooded and they are digging sand off of them, full time.

Hatteras Federal campground under water.

Can't imagine what a hurricane will do.

It will be really nice in Arkansas - which is where we will be on Sunday. So - head west young man - a 1,000 miles should be about right.

Before you ditch your eastern shore plans, wait a bit until the models firm up. Different models have the storm going anywhere from Charlotte NC to Bermuda. A 5 day forecast for a hurricane is a crap shoot.

Twin boat, thanks for the heads up. That firms it up for us. We will definitely head west!

There are some great places in WV from Harper ferry to the New River Gorge.hiking is great and weather is looking good don't forget the fall foliage. We are heading that way next week.

Headed from Maryland to anywhere in the SE and you will hit rain and lots of it. Up to twelve inches predicted for Charleston area for Sunday. We are getting pretty wet here in N Georgia with flooding in metro-Atlanta area.

Stonewall Jackson State Park in WV might work for you.

We are cozy in our cabin in Sautee Nacoochee until it passes. Then we are headed to Hungry Mother. Should be dry by then.
