The parks are nice here. I really like grayton and top sail. If you're a first responder then all Florida parks are free this year.

During your visit here I highly recommend checking out the natural springs in the area. If you time them right then you could see the Manatee migration.

Good luck!
Welcome to the forum and thanks for the info on parks and first responders.

How is the weather in that area in late July? Thinking about a week there at that time of year. Just kind of wondering what to expect.

Thanks!

Weather is great but hot! Haha. The end of July and August gets toasty.

A few things to consider when traveling here for the best experience:

First, We get two "seasons" of flies. I believe late spring the black flies migrate in with the north winds. They bite and are annoying.

Second, the yellow flies. These come in late August/early September. They are horrible. Super fast and will cause you to swell at the bit mark. If you are allergic to bees and ants then typically the swelling is much worse.

Third are the Portuguese man o Wars aka floating terror. They are a like a jelly fish (siphonophore) but hurt much worse. Also causes swelling and intensifies if you allergic to other things.

Fourth are stinging medleys aka sea lice. Quick sting and typically goes away with in a couple minutes but up to 15 minutes.

Fifth is the June Grass( It's not always in June ) the grass is an algae bloom. It has the perks of bringing in the small fish, crabs, sea horses, and turtles. The snapper and other fish will eat the travelers on it making fishing great.... However, when it washes on to the shore, it covers it. This makes the beaches appear less pretty and smell terrible.

Just helpful information. Not trying to turn anyone away at all, just a heads up. This area is awesome and beautiful but everywhere has a downside or some bumps in the road. You now have the info and can do more research to avoid these things/times👍🏖️🏄
