Disney World Off Property Campground Help

Just found out we will be passing thru Disney World before Thanksgiving and would like to stop for a day or so with the kids. I called the mouse house and they are booked (not surprised at this late date.)

Any suggestions for campgrounds near the park? We will have a toad with us.

Try Tropical Palms RV resort in Kissimmee, FL. Nice place with pools for the kids. Nearby night attractions like carnival rides and putt putt, restaurants. About 10-15 min drive into Mouse World. Everything from Prevosts to travel trailers go there.

If you're trying to get in the week of Thanksgiving, that will be a real challenge. If the week before or after, keep calling. We're generally more successful when we call vs trying to make reservations on-line.

Everything said about Tropical Palms may be true, but it's still not Disney.

Tropical Palms... Nice. But the cool thing is that it is across the street from Old Town. This is a free admission amusement park with cool shops and rides. Kids love it. If you don't want to spend a full ticket at Disney for part of the day, do Old Town free, then a full day at Disney the next day.

You are correct - still not Disney. We frequent FT Wilderness every year and have already been there this year. When the opportunity arose for a second trip we thought - lets try.

I just checked pricing at Tropical Pines and their website quoted $690 for a 4 day stay.

Has anyone stayed at the KOA? Looks clean and well kept...

Tropical Palms worked well enough with us two adults, no children, and puppy in 34ft MH. Free shuttle service to Disney and other surrounding areas. Stayed there Oct 2012 and we were very satisfied with the site, surroundings, and bathhouses were great! Even an outside tub area for your fur babies. As we did not partake in "actvities" or the pool, the price of roughly $78 bucks a night seemed a bit high. However, I could easily see the better value in that for those with children!

We stayed there last year and were happy with it. Large sites, friendly staff, squeaky clean pool.

We are looking at Outdoor Resorts at Orlando. Looks a bit sparse for kid activities in the park itself, but is a Passport park and close to the mouse.

Stayed at the KOA in May. Great park. Check out RV Park Reviews under Kississimme.

Thanks for all the help. I made reservations for the KOA, but plan to check with the Mouse House every once in while in case I can snag a cancellation.
