We're interested in expoloring Door County Wisconsin sometime in '07. Looking it up on the internet we find there are many destinations....not just one! Any suggestions as to where to go, where to stay, what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed at Frontier Wilderness RV park in Egg Harbor last September. Really nice park with lots of trees and excellent facilities, EXCEPT no sewer hookups (they are on limestone bedrock just beneath the surface, so they can't excavate). They do have a couple of dump stations, or, for a small fee, mobile sewer service (honey wagon).

Thanks for the 'heads up' on that. Wondering if all RV parks in the area are on limestone bedrock???

We've stayed at a few of them with our 33' Suncruiser. One of them did have a few full hook-ups but most require using the dump station. Between rock and tree roots it's pretty tough to run underground utilities in that area. We didn't bother going there with the 40 footer though because most sites are not very big rig friendly. These campgrounds have been there a while so they haven't really done much in the 50 amp big rig area and spaces are not overly roomy in width or length. The trees are mature and provide great shade but the downside is that they intrude on the cramped campsites. Still, if you like being in the trees and can live without sewer hookups an RVer with a smaller RV can enjoy this area. It will be crowded in summer though because this is a very popular destination for the Chicago people. If you look at all the license plates you'll think you're in Illinois.

We've been to Door County several times. The spring is great if you can hit the apple and cherry blossom window. I hear it's pretty crowded in the summer. In your planning try to find out if the play "Guys on Ice" is playing at any of the local playhouses. This play is absolutely the funniest performance I've ever seen. We also enjoyed going to a "fish boil". We camped at one of the state parks. Good luck.
