Spirit Mountain RV near the ski area, I am staying there in Sept 17 for the Northshore Inline Marathon.

Was up there last week. Stayed at Engstons, about 10 miles N on 53.
Nice place, if your coming in from the south you wont have to fight the traffic and hills of Duluth.
Drove through a nice park on the north side of Two Harbors 'Burlington Bay', sites overlooking the lake, great view, not much shade, close to 'Betty's Pies'.
Drove into Knife River campground, south of Tow Harbors– looked like a run-down trailer park, cramped and crowded ( wouldn't stay there ).

Sorry– typo: should be 'Ogstons'.

We stayed downtown at the marina and enjoyed it very much. I can't remember the name but you cross the iconic bridge to get to it.

I remember the name. Lake Head Boat Basin. After they put the boats back in the water the large paved area is turned into a RV parking area with full hookups. Very out of the norm.

Take the TOAD to Gooseberry Falls, go see the Ore Boat downtown, stop by the Duluth Trading Company, take harbor boat tour, and enjoy the cooler weather.
