Dump Stations on way to Alaska before May 15

My wife and I will be leaving next week for Alaska with an expected arrival in Fairbanks prior to May15. I was talking to a couple who has been to Alaska in prior years and they told us we would have a difficult time finding places to dump our tanks until after May 15th. I really do not desire to carry full tanks all the way to Fairbanks. Where are there available dump stations after Dawson?

I have Milepost, but I have not found information that lets me know if the Dumps Stations will be working in April or early May.

I don't want to be a spoil sport but you are going to AK to early. You should arrive in AK after June 1st.

WE went to AK in 2010 and left home on Memorial Day and it took two weeks to get there and there was still some snow around and the frost heaves have not even been looked at when you go. That could be a problem too. By the time we got ro AK the road crews had a chance to put out signs and cones to warn of frost heaves.

If I were you I would schedule to be in AK after June 1st at the earliest.

Safe travels.....

Last summer we arrived in Fairbanks in late June. We also traveled from Dawson Creek to Dawson City(via the Klondike) and then over to Tok. We saw and read about plenty of dump stations, but like you said, don't know if they are open that early. We did not stop at any CGs that did not have a dump station, and we stopped frequently. Also, we saw some gas stations that had dump stations as well.

The Al Can was in pretty good shape with some construction here and there...can't speak to it's condition from Whitehorse into Tok but that section is well traveled, so I suspect it's fairly well taken care of and passable. Canada and Alaska winters make everything subject to change. It IS a great trip. Bob
