Durango & Silverton Railroad; Little Molas Lake Campground, Colorado

A little quickie on Little Molas Lake Campground. This is a FREE Forest Service campground about 6 miles south of Silverton CO. There are not many spaces here and fewer suitable for RVs. I'm sharing a space with someone who invited me to do so and his small trailer and my 33' Class C fit. There are at least 2 or 3 other sites that will accommodate 40' RVs which I think should have no trouble getting up the 1 mile of dirt road to get here. I'll attach a photo of the awesome view from my campground if I can--my connectivity here is not so good. There are vault toilets but no other facilities. ForestCamping.com may have more info as well as the Forest Service office in Silverton.

Before coming here I was in Durango and road the Durango & Silverton Railroad, a coal-fired steam engine that runs through the mountains. Fabulous! Full report at A Leap Into The Past on an Old Time Railroad | Russ on the Road

We stayed there for 2 nights about 4 years ago, it was beautiful. We fished while sitting at the picnic table. It was actually a little chilly at night. Highly recommend staying here for a night if you ever get a chance to do so.
