If you're seriously into jeep trails, the high elevation road from Silverton over to Lake City is an amazing trip across the San Juan Mountains. The following magazine has information on the area around Silverton:

Joe and all,
Thanks so much for the information. We are running out of time. I need to be in Calif. by the 31st for Granddaughter's 12th BD, so spending time sightseeing this trip will have to wait for the trip back. It looks like we'll miss Durango and head to Farmington, then to UT. I was concerned with Highway 98 off of 160 but you have squelched my concern.

We made a comment some time back when we finished a trip that we could spend 30 days in each State and never get to see all that the State has to offer. So, we'll be back.
