We will be heading to Durango this June with our granddaughter and are looking for recommendations on camp grounds. I would like to hear from anyone having any experience with camp grounds in the area.

We stayed at the Riverside RV Park in Bayfield, about 20 miles east of Durango, a couple of years ago. It was OK, some nice sites (we got one on a point with a creek on each side, ducks and geese, a deer, etc), others are just a grass parking lot with hookups. But it was clean, the laundromat worked, and the price was right...

You might look at the Lightner Creek RV Park also. It's a little tight, but the folks working there do a great job of guiding you in. I was able to take a forty footer in there with no problem.

One of our favorites is the United Campground on the main drag just north of Durango proper. It is on the shuttle line, shaded and has sites for big rigs. Grandsons enjoy the fact that the Durango/Silverton train runs right through the middle of the campground.

Jim, we enjoyed the great scenery and rural setting of Alpen Rose.
