East Canyon State Park, UT 5/6-7/2017
Trip #2 for the new land yacht. We decided to stay close to home this weekend and try out campground hookups this time instead of boondocking on BLM land like we did two weeks ago. Now I'm admittedly not a fan of campgrounds, but this was a remarkably pleasant spot and it was kind of nice to just plug into electricity and water. I was grateful for the shelter of the trailer when a severe thunderstorm blew through on Saturday afternoon, but otherwise the weather was fine with highs around 70 and lows around 40. I don't think that the girls were too thrilled with being leashed most of the time (just one reason that I'm not a campground fan), but they got the chance to run through the fields behind our trailer's spot and do a bit of swimming in the lake, too, so I doubt that they're too upset.
Shortly before the storm on Saturday.
Mere moments before the skies opened, the girls got to run.
A pleasant Sunday morning.

Always love to see Great Picture like this - Hoping to See Rockport and Jordanelle SP in future trips, get all the close lakes - getting out early and Being A Local sure helps.
Ski one weekend and Camp of the Lakes - OH to live in the Southwest!
Thanks for sharing,

Looks like a really nice state park. I will definitely plan to spend more time in Utah the next few years. Lots of hidden gems. I'm from AZ, how did all that green stuff get on the ground?

That green stuff only lasts until July. [emoji6] If you ever need local info hit me up -- I'm in the neighborhood.

Not done skiing yet, either. Although Snowbird is still open with well over 100" of snow on the ground, my better plan is for some ski touring in the Uinta Mountains once the road over Bald Mountain Pass opens for the summer season, probably Memorial Day Weekend. This was Memorial Day Weekend last year, which was a low snow year: http://www.firsttracksonline.com/boa...hp?f=3&t=12154

Snowbird is my favorite ski resort, fantastic powder, been there 4 or 5 times. Here in AZ the Snowbowl resort near Flagstaff just closed last weekend, first time they've ever been open in May. Man I love the great Southwest!

I'm an Alta guy myself, averaging around 80 days per season. If you find yourself there let me know.

Is Alta still free from the scourge of snowboards?
